Bakoumba animation
In 2018, the French association asked European Marfan associations if they would be interested in translating the Marfan Children’s book “Bakoumba” to European languages.
The book is about a Marfan lion that slowly realizes that he is very useful for many things, so he starts to feel better about himself. It is a story about being “different” aimed at children from 6 till 10 years old.
A collaboration between the French association, MEN, VASCERN and several national associations allowed this project to succeed, and the book has been translated and printed in German, Dutch, Flemish, Swedish, Finnish and Danish up to date.
As we discussed last year at our Drammen-meeting, The Netherlands had the idea to bring Bakoumba’s book to life in an animation. The images are processed so that the animals from the images really can move. We are grateful that the copyright holder gave permission that the video can be edited and that no copyright has to be paid.
The video with a Dutch voice-over is now ready! Bart Woudstra has transformed the illustrations in a beautiful animation. The story is voiced by Hannelore Zwitserlood. The original illustrations are by Agnès Patron.
If your organization is interested in the animation, send an e-mail to Jeroen. He will send you a download-link with a clean file without the Dutch voice-over. Each organization can put a voice-over under the animation in their own language (maybe with some help from students at media schools?).
